Indonesia Trademark Registration
To protect a trademark in Indonesia, the application must be filed with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP). Indonesia uses the Nice Classification system for goods and services in trademark applications. Although multiple-class applications are allowed, filing a single-class application is generally recommended.

Trademark Search
Before applying for a trademark, you might want to conduct a search to find out if there are any identical or similar marks on the Trademark Register. However, it is an optional procedure for filing the trademark application.
Time frame: 5 – 7 working days
Trademark Application
Once the trademark application is filed, it will be published in the Official Gazette. Any interested party may oppose the registration of your trademark within two months from the publication date. After the opposition period, a substantive examination will be conducted. If the application is accepted, the trademark will be registered and an electronic registration certificate will be issued.
Time Frame
The timeframe from filing to registration is approximately 12 – 18 months . However, if there are objection from the trademark office or opposition from anyone else, it may take longer.
Validity of Registration:
A registered trademark in Indonesia is valid for a period of 10 years from the date of application, and can be renewed every 10 years.
Requirements For Trademark Application in Indonesia:
- Applicant’s name, address and nationality
- Representation of the trademark
- Classes and description of goods or services
- A simply signed Power of Attorney and Declaration
- Certified translation and transliteration if your mark consist of foreign language other than English;
- If the applicant claims convention priority, a certified copy of foreign application is required (with English translation).
